Stockholm - Travel Oooops!

My kanini (Swedish BR)

10 August (who knows what day of the week it is anymore!)

We had a leisurely morning and a lovely breakfast before checking out of the hotel in Göteborg to go downstairs to the train station to catch the 12:30 Express train to Stockholm.

We inadvertently ended up sitting in 1st class (right seat numbers, but in the wrong car). Fortunately, the train was not very busy, so we got to stay.

It is understandable that so many Swedes immigrated to Minnesota in the early 1900s, as much of inland Sweden resembles Minnesota - with forests and farmlands.

We arrived Stockholm at 4PM with nary a clue as to what to do.
Because we had not done our homework, we ended up in a "bandit taxi" - costing us probably 5 times what it should have to go from the train station to our hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we realized that I had booked the wrong hotel! Fortunately, the family owned Hotell Örnsköld had a room for us. Also fortunately, I was able to negotiate with the First Hotel Stat Örnsköldavik to refund our money.

We love-love-love Stockholm! It is a vibrant city with much charm, which we look forward to exploring more tomorrow.

We are in the Theater District, which is especially charming! We are on a walk street, one block from the waterfront and parks.

The Soap Bar - where we had dinner

Ann's Chicken Burger with Fries
Ned's Classic Bacon Burger with Fries

P.S. The burgers were drippingly good, and the fries were as good as they get - crispy on the outside, even when cool! Yum!
