Junibacken - Stockholm

Friday 11 August

Also in Djurgården one can find Junibacken (and lots of kids!).
It officially opened on June 8, 1996 - by the Swedish Royal Family.

Junibacken is an homage to Swedish children's literature, featuring Astrid Lindgren (creator of Pippi Longstocking).

Other Swedish authors of children's books are also featured.

  1. Looks like a beautiful area. at the Junibacken, did you run into Hedvig Collin's works. She stayed for a while in Santa Barbara when she got stuck over here during WWII. She wrote many children's books, one in English called Wind Island. She was quite famous in Scandinavia.

Great illustrations as well. Glad you're enjoying your Swedish adventures, and that you were able to straighten out the hotels. (I had done something similar in Austria, only it was the right hotel and google maps was sending us to the wrong town!) Give me paper!

Onward, intrepid travelers. Love, Hattie and Michael.
