Now retired, Wolfgang is pursuing art (see photo).
They drove us to Koblenz, to the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers.

We rode the Sielbahn (sky train - a gondola) 112 meters above and over the Rhine River to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We could see where the Mosel empties into the Rhine before flowing to the North Sea.
We walked in the Festunpark, site of the 2011 National Horticultural Exhibit and the viewing platform.
Ehrenbritstein is one of the largest fortress complexes in Europe, with 5000 years of history! Archeological ruins date back to Roman Empire. The Prussian Empire then built the fortress atop. It has served as a prison, and in 1945 also served as living quarters for military.
Wolfgang proved to be an excellent chauffeur, tour guide and water sommelier.
He also kept watch at the guard station!
